LOADING PIGMENT HAVING HIGH WEATHERABILITY AND WATER-BASED COATING COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly glossy water-based coating composition excellent in weatherability and water resistance and a highly dispersible loading pigment for the same. SOLUTION: (A) A sulfonated aliphatic diene-based polymer salt of a sulfonated copolymer salt of an aliphatic diene with a polymerizable monomer and (B) surface-coated calcium carbonate particles on the surfaces of which a nonionic phosphoric ester type surfactant is adsorbed are used as a loading pigment for water-based coatings. The surface-coated calcium carbonate particles are produced by adding (A) the sulfonated aliphatic biene-based polymer least or the sulfonated copolymer salt of the aliphatic diene with the polymerization monomer and (B) the nonionic phosphoric ester type surfactant to a slurry of the calcium carbonate particles, coating them and succeedingly dehydrating.
