PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing plate refractories for sliding nozzles which contain aluminum nitride having excellent corrosion resistance have excellent wear resistance by high strength and excellent heat spalling resistance. SOLUTION: Metal aluminum and org. compsn. contg. nitrogen, such as dicyandiamide (C2 H4 H4 ), cyanuric acid (C3 H3 N3 O3 ) and melamine (C3 H6 N6 ), are previously mixed and this compd. mixture is compounded with a raw material consisting essentially of alumina and carbon at 1 to 20wt.% in terms of the aluminum nitride. The mixture is kneaded and molded and is calcined in a nonoxidative atmosphere. As a result, the plate refractories for sliding nozzles which contain the aluminum nitride having the excellent corrosion resistance and have the excellent wear resistance by high strength and the excellent spalling resistance are produced. |
