<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermoplastic water absorption gel support which is allowed to immobilize animal or plant cells and microorganisms or protozoa and used as a bioreactor (immobilized biocatalyst) in production of substance, detoxication of harmful substance, waste oil disposal, waste water disposal or deodorization. SOLUTION: This support for bioreactor is made of a thermoplastic organic polymer with a swelling degree of 150-4,000vol.% in water. The bioreactor support is produced by plasticizing a support, a used support for waste water disposal or a support for deodorization or a thermoplastic resin produced by reaction long-chain and short chain polyols with isocyanate, with heat over their melting points and extruding the molten polymer from an extruder in a strand and cutting the strand continuously to pellets.</p> |
