PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the effect of ink leak on the electrical joint of a recording element substrate by providing the recording element substrate with an ink supply port to be coupled with an ink supply coupling part and arranging the joint thereof on the back side of the piezoelectric connecting face of the recording element substrate. SOLUTION: A recording element unit is coupled separably with a drive element unit such that the recording element or a nozzle can be replaced easily upon occurrence of a defect or a failure therein. In the recording element unit, a port 10 for supplying ink into a liquid chamber 14 is made on the side opposite to the electric connecting terminal 8 a thereof, i.e., on the back side, while penetrating a recording element substrate 1b. According to the structure, an ink leaked through a joint is prevented from reaching the electrical joint of the recording element unit and a driving element substrate and thereby the possibility of failure or breakdown of the recording element unit and the driving element substrate due to electrical short circuit is suppressed. |
