PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To industrially obtain a mixture of diastereomer having a richer and better fragrance, by reducing a starting raw material composed of a specific compound. SOLUTION: (1'S)-(E)-3-methyl-5-(2,2,3-trimethylcyclopent-3-en-1-yl)pent-4-en-2- one is used as a starting raw material and is reduced into (1'S)-(E)-3- methyl-5-(2,2,3-trimethylcyclopent-3-en-1-yl)pent-4-en-2-ol to give a diastereomer mixture of 1'S, 2R, 3S; 1'S, 2S, 3R and 1'S, 2S, 3S; 1'S, 2R, 3R of (E)-3- methyl-5-(2,2,3-trimethylcyclopent-3-en-1Y1)pent-4-en-2-ol as an intermediate product. |
