PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously perform multicolor printing of predetermined resolution at a high speed. SOLUTION: Respective color nozzle units having a large number of ink jet nozzles 207a-207n are arranged to the periphery of a drum having a printing medium M capable of being held to the outer peripheral surface thereof and rotatable centering around its axial line at a constant peripheral speed are arranged so as to be positionally shifted in the rotary direction thereof and the pitch PT between the ink jet nozzles in the axial direction of the drum of the color nozzle units is formed so as to become N times a reference pitch PTp necessary to provide a predetermined resolution and, during one rotation of the drum, the color nozzle units are made movable by the reference pitch PTp in the axial direction of the drum and formed in a color printable manner during movement and, by rotating the drum by N times, continuous color printing of predetermined resolution can be applied to the printing medium M. |
