PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve productivity of a formed body and to obtain a glass-like carbon material in which generation of density anisotropy or production of micropores is reduced by injecting a thermosetting resin into a die coated with a release agent, hardening the resin and then calcining the hardened resin. SOLUTION: At least one kind of thermoplastic resin selected from furan resin, phenolic resin and phenol-modifiied furan resin is injected into a die on which at least its inner surface in contact with the thermoplastic resin is coated with a release agent. The resin injected is then hardened in the die to obtain a formed body. Then the formed body of the hardened resin is calcined to obtain a glass-like carbon material. As for the release agent, (A) a compd. which can form a release film having >=90 deg. contact angle with water, such as paraffin wax, (B) a fatty acid ester having 8 to 18 carbon atoms such as polyoxyethylene solbitane monolaurate, and (C) an aliphatic polyhydric alcohol soluble in water such as glycerol are preferably used. |
