PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly detect linear irregular colors having only a low concentration difference as compared with surrounding portions, without being affected by a noise contained in a picture, by comparing with one another the results of picture integration in a printing direction, said integration being performed in a reference picture and a to-be-checked picture. SOLUTION: After a reference picture is stored in a reference picture storing memory 101, integration is carried out along a printing direction by an integrating circuit 102. Then, integration results are stored in a reference picture integration result storing memory 103. After a picture is stored in a picture storing memory 104, an integrating operation is carried out along the printing direction by an integrating circuit 105, with a result of the integration being stored in a picture integration result storing memory 106. Then, with the use of a comparator circuit 107, a reference picture integration result stored in the reference picture integration result storing memory 103, is compared with a to-be-checked picture integration result stored in a to-be-checked picture integration result storing memory, so as to detect whether there is an imperfection. In this way, picture portions having a level higher than a predetermined level are determined to be linear irregular colors. |
