PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire for gas shielded metal arc welding which solves the problem of deterioration in drawability and degradation in the welding workability caused by addition of Ti, guarantees the strength and toughness and excellent arc stability of the deposited metal which are essential for the welding wire, demonstrates the excellent drawability in the manufacturing process of the welding wire, generates no defective feeding or bead meandering during the welding, is excellent is feedability, and demonstrates very excellent welding workability, its raw wire. SOLUTION: A wire for gas shielded metal arc welding and its raw wire have the composition consisting of 0.02-0.06% C, 0.45-1.50% Si, 1.0-2.0% Mn, and 0.10-0.30% Ti, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, the mass ratio Ti/C of Ti to C is >=4.0, and >=50 carbide or carbonitride granules containing Ti with the grain size 10-250nm are present in the area to be examined of 2μm<2> in total.
