PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it higher in durability than the conventional friction clutch, longer in service life and inexpensive in manufacturing cost by letting a clutch plate comprise a backing strip, consisting of a material being harder than materials forming a pressure plate, positioned in space between a friction plate and this pressure plate. SOLUTION: A clutch assembly 50 comprises a clutch housing 52 in which a clutch hub 54, a slat washer 56, a pressure plate 58, plural pieces of friction plates and backing strips 62 are stored. The pressure plate 58 is manufactured by a die cast aluminum alloy, if possible, a 380 alloy is desirable. The core backing strip 62 is manufactured by those harder than steel or the pressure plate 58 and other proper materials. This pressure plate 58 is formed with plural pieces of ribs on the outer surface, assisting the strengthening of this pressure plate 58. Thus, with the aluminum pressure plate 58 used, this clutch assembly becomes yet lighter in weight and inexpensive in cost. |
