PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a copolymer useful for glucose sensors and the like, which can exhibit a high bio-compatibility and protein-adsorption inhibition, and initiate redox reactions, by polymerizing a specific phosphorus-containing methacrylic ester with vinyl ferrocene. SOLUTION: This copolymer is produced by copolymerization of (A) 2- methacryloyloxyethylphosphorylcholine with (B) vinyl ferrocene, the copolymer being e.g. one shown by formula I (X is number of moles of the component B relative to the total number of moles of the components A and B; X/(1-X) is (1/99) to (99/1); and (n) is an integer of 10 to 100,000). The copolymer is obtained by solution, bulk, emulsion, suspension polymerization or the like of a monomer composition composed of the components A and B for random or block polymerization. |
