PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode substance for an electrochemical device, particularly for lithium secondary battery and its production. SOLUTION: This relates to a production process for a oxide represented by the formula: Lix Mny Oz (x is 0-2; y is 1-3; z is 3-4.5 where x, y and z are selected so that the compound has a composition close to LiMn2 O4 ). In this production process, (a) a reductive polymer, copolymer or polymer mixture which can form a complex with lithium and manganese is allowed to react with an oxidative lithium salt and an oxidative manganese salt in a common solvent, than the solvent is partially or wholly removed by evaporation to prepare a lithium/manganese polymer complex in a gel or xerogel form, (b) the resultant lithium/manganese polymer complex is mineralized by the denotative oxidation-reduction technique whereby amorphous fine particles of an oxide of the formula: Lix Mny Oz are collected. |
