PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a winding method of a paper web to remove or at least to minimize influence of a vibrating region. SOLUTION: This winding method is to wind a paper web by a winder or a similar machine and to control travelling speed of the winder. In this case, running speed S of the winder is controlled in accordance with rotating speed of a roll, and when rotating speed of the roll approaches vibrating regions 1, 2, that is, it approaches a rotating speed region of the roll where strong vibration is generated, the running speed S is speedily lowered so that the rotating speed of the roll is lowered down to a level lower than the lowest rotating speed of the vibrating regions 1, 2. Thereafter, the running speed S of the winder is increased by maintaining the rotating speed of the roll constant until it reaches the original running speed S of the winder.
