BURNISHING DEVICE AND BURNISHING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To burnish the whole inner surface of an annular groove satisfactorily using burnishing balls with the radius of curvature smaller than the circular arc of the cross section of the annular groove without using a means for oscillating the whole device in the device for burnishing the annular groove of circular arc shaped cross section in a workpiece. SOLUTION: A device 1 for burnishing an annular groove G of circular arc shaped cross section in a workpiece W is provided with a holding member 4 holding a plurality of burnishing balls 3 rollably in a guide groove 2 provided on the workpiece W side, and a holder 6 provided with springs 5, pressing means for pressing the holding member 4 to the workpiece W side. The guide groove 2 is formed in such closed curve shape as to change the contact positions of the balls 3 with the inner surface of the annular groove G in the width direction of the annular groove G as the balls 3 roll.
