摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermal recording medium which has high recording sensitivity and recorded image quality and besides, outstanding recording travel performance and suitability for printing by adding an organic pigment having a through hole and an inorganic pigment with a higher absorption than a specific numerical value to an undercoat layer. SOLUTION: A specific organic pigment with a through hole and a specific inorganic pigment with an oil absorption of 80ml/100g or more are added to an undercoat layer. The usage of the specific inorganic pigment is preferably about 10-60wt.% for the total solid amount of the undercoat layer. The specific organic pigment particle may have at least, one or more through holes. This hole is obtained by synthesizing a resin which is not soluble in alkaline water around a resin particle which is soluble in the alkaline water as a core material and eluting the core material with the alkaline water. The specific organic pigment particle should preferably be of the somewhat flat spherical shape, and the volume mean particulate diameter is preferably 0.1-5.0μm. Further, the usage of the specific organic pigment particle is preferably 30-70wt.% for the total solid amount of the undercoat layer.
