PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording material best suited for infrared laser which shows a high absorbing efficiency for an infrared laser beam, the low degree of coloring in a texture and a high-grade recording, as well as a recording method for realizing the recording of a high-quality image using the material. SOLUTION: This recording material consists of at least, a recording layer containing organic silver slat, a developing agent of organic silver salt, a binder and an infrared absorptive coloring matter, formed on a support, and contains organic borate expressed by formula (in the formula, M is an alkali metal atom, quaternary ammonium, halogenium, etc., and R<1> , R<2> , R<3> and R<4> are a halogen atom and an alkyl group, etc., respectively). It is preferable that the organic silver salt, the infrared adsorptive coloring matter and the organic borate be present across a partition such as a microcapsule from the developing agent of organic silver salt. |
