PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly antibacterial phenol resin molding material which can give articles for daily life such as lacquer ware, and kitchen utensils and moldings handled by many and unspecified persons by blending a molding material with an antibacterial agent. SOLUTION: The antibacterial agent used is prepared by impregnating an inorganic compound carrier (e.g. silica, alumina or zeolite) with an antibacterial metal (e.g. silver, zinc or copper) and has a mean particle diameter of 0.1-100μm, which can permit its uniform distribution on the surface of a molding and consequent stable sustained antibacterial effect. It is used in an amount of 0.1-2wt.% (in terms of the antibacterial agent) based on the entire molding material. The phenolic resin used is a novolac phenolic resin, a resol phenolic resin or a mixture thereof. If it is one that can not self-cure at 150-190 deg.C, it is used in combination with a curing agent being hexamethylenetetramine. The molding material contains a filler such as an inorganic one such as calcium carbonate, clay or silica or an organic fibrous one such as a wood flour or pulp.
