PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the service life of a plug for piercing seamless steel tubes which are used under severe conditions. SOLUTION: In the plug for piercing the seamless tubes, as the plug used for piercing the seamless steel tube, the plug is selected so as to satisfy the next relationship, when the plug diameter is defined as Dp , the radius of the tip part of the plug as (r) and the radius of the work part of the plug as R, R>=-160×r+12×Dp , R>=18×r+3.6×Dp , -20×r+22×Dp >=R>=90×r-15×Dp .
