PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable displacement compressor capable of stopping refrigerant circulation on an external refrigerant circuit without using any large-sized solenoid valve. SOLUTION: A capacity control valve 49 changes pressure of a crank chambet 15 according to suction pressure to be introduced to a pressure sensitive chamber 52 through a pressure detecting passage 55 and controls the tilt angle of a swash plate 23. A shutting body 28 shuts a suction passage 32 by being interlocked with the minimum tilt angle of the swash plate 23 and disenables introduction of gaseous refrigerant from an external refrigerant circuit 71 to a suction chamber 38. A solenoid valve 57 is interposed on the pressure detecting passage 55, and the passage 55 is closed by demagnetization of a solenoid 63.
