PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compound useful as a fuel additive, capable of excellently suppressing an engine deposit, especially a deposit of an inlet valve, by amino carbamating a polyalkylphenoxy alkanol. SOLUTION: This compound is shown by formula I R is a polyalkyl having 600-6,000 average molecular weight; R1 and R2 are each H or a 1-6C lower alkyl; A is a polyamine part containing one or more basic nitrogen [e.g. one derived from a compound of the formula H2 N-(R3 NH)2 -H (R3 is a 2-6C alkylene; (z) is 1-4)] and is bonded through the one nitrogen to carbonyl to form a carbamate bond} or a its salt soluble in a fuel and is obtained, for example, by bringing a compound of formula II into contact with 1,1'-carbonyldiimidazole to give a polyalkylphenoxy alkanol acylimidazole and bringing the compound into a corresponding polyamine. |
