PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a good cutting in cutting a square pipe without leaving any burrs or the like on the cutting surface. SOLUTION: This square pipe cutting device is provided with a chuck 1 for grasping a square pipe 4 rotatably around the central spinle, a tool rest 2 to which a cutting tool 3 is fitted so that it can come near and alienate from the axis of the square pipe 4, a rotating angle detecting means A for detecting the rotating angleθof the square pipe 4, an input means B for inputting cross section dimensional information of the square pipe 4, and a control means for controlling the tool rest 2 corresponding to the cross section dimensions by calculating the cross section dimensional information of the square pipe 4 inputted beforehand by the inputting means B and the rotating angleθoutput outputted from the detecting means A.
