PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermal recording medium which shows superior recording travel performance, the outstanding lightfastness of a recorded image and a texture part and reliable chemical resistance by adding a three-dimensionally crosslinking resin particle containing an ultraviolet absorbent and an adhesive to a protecting layer. SOLUTION: In a thermal recording medium consisting of a thermal recording layer and a protective layer laminated sequentially on a support, a three- dimensionally crosslinking resin particle (specific resin particle) containing an ultraviolet absorbent and an adhesive are added to the protecting layer. The specific resin particle is obtained by three-dimensionally crosslinking it using at least, a crosslinking monomer, as for example, a monomer in which the ultraviolet absorbent is dissolved when the monomer is emulsion-polymerized or suspension-polymerized. The most favorable ultraviolet absorbent is of the benzotriazole type. The preferable added content of the ultraviolet absorbent is 5-40wt.% for the specific resin particle. In addition, the preferable monomer for dissolving the ultraviolet absorbent is of such a type that the solubility and the compatibility for the ultraviolet absorbent are high. |
