<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a chemically inert gas such as gaseous nitrogen or rare gas by passing a gas to be purified, having a specific temp., through an absorbent containing a porous metal oxide and recovering the gas substantially removed in impurities such as oxygen and/or carbon monoxide. SOLUTION: Gaseous nitrogen can be transported to a reheater 2 from a gaseous top space of a storage vessel 1 through pipes 7a, 7b. The gaseous nitrogen is controlled to -40 deg.C by the reheater 2 before transported to a reactor 3 containing a hopcalite based adsorbent 10. Liquefied nitrogen contained in the storage vessel 1 is transferred to an atmospheric vaporizer 8 through pipe 7b. In the outlet of the reactor 3, gaseous nitrogen removed in at least one of impurities O2 and Co is transported to a buffer tank 5 through a pipe 4 to store a purified gaseous nitrogen. Next, the purified gaseous nitrogen is transported to a site for use.</p> |
