PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recording liquid comprising water, a coloring agent, self-cross-linked resin particles and an emulsion-like oily substance, not clogging printer heads, excellent in extrusion stability, capable of recording images on plain paper, not blotting and permeating into the paper, and capable of giving the images in high image concentrations. SOLUTION: This recording liquid comprises water, a coloring agent, self- cross-linked resin particles such as acrylic silicone resin particles or acrylamide resin particles, and en emulsion-like oily substance (e.g. olive oil, rapeseed oil, caster oil, linolic acid, dioctyl phthalate, dimethylsilicone oil).
