PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply adjust the contact pressure profile by judging the contact pressure profile along the longitudinal direction of a knife, and heating or cooling each part of the knife or a plain rotor according to the judged contact pressure profile. SOLUTION: A contact pressure profile detecting means 50 to generate the contact pressure signal to indicate the contact pressure value at each part of a knife 20 is arranged along the longitudinal direction of the knife 20. An operation control device 80 to input the command for heating or cooling to an adjusting means 60 through an input/output control device 70 is provided based on the contact pressure profile along the longitudinal direction of the knife 20 to be fed through the input/output control device 70. The contact pressure profile of the knife 20 is adjusted as desired by the adjusting means 60 by heating or cooling each corresponding part of the knife 20 in response to the contact pressure signal.
