The disclosure concerns a method for producing bronze lined cylinder bores in the steel cylinder barrel of a piston pump or motor. The liners are machined from bronze sleeves which are slip fitted into blind bores in a cylinder barrel blank, enveloped by sand, and then melted, bonded and re-solidified in a non-oxidizing atmosphere.
