PRODUCTION OF POLYIMIDE OPTICAL WAVELENGTH PLATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical wavelength plate by a simple uniaxial stretching process which unnecessitates temp. control and stress control with high precision at the time of uniaxial stretching and thermal imidation. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the polyimide optical wavelength plate containing a process in which a polyimide film is uniaxially stretched, a process in which intra-plane double refraction is made to be >=0.03 by uniaxially stretching the polyimide film is contained and, further, a process in which a film thickness is made to be <=20μm and the intra-plane double refraction is made to be >=0.03 by uniaxially stretching the polyimide film is contained.
