The fastener has a lever (4) on a plate (5) that is fixed to one part of the boot (3). This is connected to a clip (9) that engages in the teeth (7) of a rack (6) that is fixed to the other part of the boot (2). The end of the clip (10) engages in the first tooth (7A) of the rack to pull the parts of the boot closer. It is then released by the lever and the bar of the clip (8) is engaged in the tooth of the rack, to exert greater traction on the parts of the boot.
