PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable multi-line driving with a binary PWM waveform in a display state without an increase in the number of voltage levels by dividing the time of single-time signal electrode application by time and performing pulse width control according to data obtained by converting the arithmetic result into data represented as only a positive integer. SOLUTION: The time of single-time signal electrode application is divided by time according to the number of scanning electrodes selected at the same time and the number of gradations. A 1st means multiplies gradation data L and subtracts (N-1)×L/2 from the result, where N is the number of gradations and L is the number of scanning electrodes selected at the same time. A 2nd means performs matrix operation for the data obtained by the 1st means with an orthogonal coefficient represented as 1 and -1 of a scanning-side signal, and perform L×(N-1)×L/2 addition and division by L as to the data obtained through the operation, where N is the number of gradations and L is the number of scanning electrodes selected at the same time. Then the gradation data ate converted by this means and the data is only driven by a segment driver to enable multi-line driving.
