PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce dispersion and maintain a stable mixed lubricating state by using titanium as a metal element to be implanted in a rotary shaft, setting the implanted quantity of titanium to the specific quantity or more, and setting the implanted quantity of carbon to specific times or more of the implanted quantity of titanium. SOLUTION: In a pivot thrust bearing system provided with a rotary shaft with a metal element and carbon directly ion-implanted in ironsteel material and formed in such a way that the ion implanted face of the rotary shaft slides with bearing material through a lubricating oil composition, the metal element implanted in the rotary shaft is titanium, the implanted quantity is 2.5×10<17> dose (ions/cm<2> ) or more, and the implanted quantity of carbon is 1.6 times or more of the implanted quantity of titanium. A surface modified layer formed by double implantation of titanium ion and carbon ion into iron-steel material is low in the coefficient of friction and stable in sliding in a mixed lubricating state with an opposed member, so that the specific wear quantity is reduced.
