PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform an inter-image prediction processing by the data transfer bus of a low speed and a low bit and to reduce a device cost by alternately turning only one to a prediction signal by a pixel unit without adding the pixel values of both images in bidirectional inter-image prediction. SOLUTION: For a code arriving from a code input terminal 21, the processings of the decoding, inverse quantization and inverse DCT of a variable length code are performed in a decoder 22, image signals are reproduced in an I-frame and prediction remainder signals are reproduced in a B-frame. A switch 23 supplies reproducing images to an image memory 13 in the I-frame and the output signals of the image memory 13 are supplied to the switch 25 as well simultaneously with the image memory 12. In such a manner, the prediction signals obtained in an image switch 10 are supplied to a prediction adder 24. The prediction adder 24 adds the prediction remainder signals supplied from the decoder 22 at the time of the B-frame and the prediction signals supplied from the switch 10 and obtains reproducing image signals. Then, the reproducing images returned to an original frame order are outputted from an image output terminal 26. |
