<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ship part which is stably and favorably mounted on a substrate. SOLUTION: A chip resistor comprises a porcelain element 3 having an hourglass-shape part 3a, whose cross section gradually and similarly becomes larger from the center toward both ends thereof, with square pillar-like parts 3a having a cross section larger than a maximum cross section of the hourglass- shape part 3a integrally and symmetrically provided to the both ends thereof, respectively, a resistance film 4 formed on the surface of the porcelaneous element 3, an exterior insulating layer 5 formed on the surface of the resistance film 4 on the hourglass-shape part 3a and conductor films 6 for electrode formed on the surface of the resistance film 4 on both the square pillar-like parts 3b. As a result, the part itself is prevented from rolling by utilizing one of side surfaces of both the conductor films 6 for electrode as a mounting surface, so that the part is stably mounted on a substrate, etc. In addition, even when a recess is formed around the exterior insulating layer 5, the thickness thereof can be made uniform, and the problem of cracking and pilling caused by sudden change of the thickness is eliminated.</p> |
