<p>A method of modulating the migration of vascular smooth muscle cells in a vertebrate is disclosed. The method includes the steps of identifying a vertebrate suspected of having a condition characterized by the migration of vascular smooth muscle cells, providing an agent that increases expression of MKP-1 in vascular smooth muscle cells, and administering to the vertebrate an amount of the agent sufficient to inhibit migration.</p> |
