摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device in which the load of image pickup operation is relieved and the image pickup operation is facilitated with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: A pointer (index ray) is projected in the middle of an object 10 from projection means 20, 21. An image of an object is formed on an image pickup element 51 via a sub-image pickup optical system 50, and an image signal of the object is obtained from a signal processing circuit 52. The image signal is analyzed by a pattern recognition processing means 60 and an object area is identified. Based on the identification, an optical system control means 32 is controlled so that a rate of the object area shared in a recording area is a set value by a system control circuit 31 and a field angle of the sub image pickup system is set. The main image pickup optical system 40 and the sub- image pickup optical system 50 are interlocked and when the field angle is set to a desired state, the object is recorded in a recording medium 41 via the main image pickup optical system controlled in interlocking with the sub- image pickup optical system. In this constitution, since the object is focused through the projection of the pointer, it is not required to seek an object through a finder and the operability is much improved.
