PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent crosswriting by subjecting a land-and-group type magneto-optical recording medium to recording and reproducing respectively with the optimum recording light power and reproduction light power. SOLUTION: This method detemtines the optimum recording light quantity of the optical recording medium of the land-and-group type. Test patterns 96 are recorded with the predetemtined recording light quantity on lands 94 and test patterns 98, 99 are recorded at the various recording light quantities in grooves 92, 94. The differences between the regenerative signals from magnetic domains 80 held by the test patterns 98, 99 of the test patterns 96 and the regenerative signals from magnetic domains 82 not held by these patterns are determined by each of the recording light quantities of the test patterns 98, 99. The max. recording light quantity among the recording light quantities of the test patterns 98, 99 of the case the differences between the regenerative signals are within a prescribed range is determined as the optimum recording light quantity. The determination of the optimum reproducing light quantity is possible as well by changing the reproducing light quantities to the magnetic domains recorded with the various recording light quantities to various values. An improvement in the S/N of the regenerative signals of the magnetic super-high resolution medium is possible as well. |
