1323019 Purification of fluid contaminated with oxazole MONSANTO CO. 17 Nov 1971 [18 Nov 1970] 53437/71 Heading C2C A process for the purification of an organic fluid contaminated with oxazole, comprises contacting the fluid with a salt consisting of a strong acid and a metal of the Fourth Period of the Periodic Table. Preferably, the metal is cobalt, nickel, copper or zinc and especially in the + 2 oxidation state and preferably the salt is a chloride or nitrate. The process is particularly applicable to the removal of oxazole from unsaturated aliphatic nitriles. The salt may be supported on a substrate, e.g. activated metal oxide, dissolved in a solvent or present as a solid. |
