<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the entire data transmission time of a cell transmitter and to improve the throughput of a network by transmitting a resource manage ment cell first at the time of recovery from an idle state and quickening the period of increasing a cell transmission rate. SOLUTION: The rate control part 12 of an origination terminal 1 sets the cell transmission rate to an initial value and transmits an RM cell, prepared by an RM cell transmission/reception part 13 at the time of establishing connection and starting transmission. When the time cons for the next cell transmission, the control part 12 increase the idle time when the DT cell of transmission standby is not present in a DT cell queuing part 11 and transmits the RM cell first, when it is present. Depending on whether the reception of the transmission/reception part 13 of the RM cell returned by a termination terminal 3 is present or absent and whether or not the contents indicate the congestion of a switch 2 and the termination terminal 3, the rate control part 12 decreases or increases the cell transmission rate for a prescribed portion. Thus, when the transmission data are generated again during the idle state, the entire cell transmission rate is raised.</p> |
