PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optionally add auxiliary map data stored in a memory card to map data read from a map data storage medium such as CD-ROM, etc., for processing. SOLUTION: When transient traffic obstructions occur, such as roads closed during repair works due to damage by landslides or earthquakes or those restricted to alternate traffic due to works for widening of road, which are not recorded in a map data storage medium 2, it is made possible to read auxiliary map data showing such traffic obstructions from an auxiliary map data storage medium 13 and display the map data in a corrected state. Thus, although there are changes or additions in the map data but it takes time to correct the map data storage medium 2 itself such as CD-ROM, etc., route guidance becomes possible for daily drivers using road traffic always based on the latest traffic information. |
