POWER SUPPLY FOR STANDBY MODE OPERATION

A power supply circuit for a video display apparatus having run and standby modes of operation. A resistor (R1) has a first terminal coupled to a power supply controller circuit (2) for enabling operation of the power supply controller circuit. A standby mode power supply provides an output voltage (5V) for the video display apparatus during a standby mode of operation. The standby mode power supply utilizes a standby transformer (T1) having a secondary winding (n3) coupled to a second terminal of the resistor (R1). The secondary winding (n3) provides a low voltage to the resistor (R1) to minimize the power dissipated by the resistor.
