This optical coupler has opto-electronic transmitter-receiver components (4, 5) in two cases (3). These have partitions (7) facing each other, with ports (8) for the light rays, defining an optical transmission path, so forming a bi-directional optical link between the cases. A new feature is the joint (9) fixed to the external face of one of the case partitions. This surrounds the optical transmission path and is slightly compressed when mounting the cases. It seals the optical transmission path. Preferably, each case carries a dielectric, transparent window in the optical path, made especially of polycarbonate.
