Method to produce the grooved drive roller for a reciprocating yarn guide, with a spiral groove to convert the roller rotation into a reciprocating motion, comprises using a blank (1) for the groove ends of a material which can be hardened. The end blank (1) and the blank (2) for the roller body have the same hardness.
