The food mixer has a housing (1) enclosing the electric drive motor (19) used to rotate the mixing tools (5) and provided with an integral handgrip (2), extending approx perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (6) of the mixing tools. The electrical supply cable (17) projects from the handgrip at the end furthest from the mixing tools and is received by a cable guide (12), which pivots to prevent twisting of the cable. The cable guide acts as part of a winding device (18) around which the cable is wound when not in use.
