<p>A folded airbag (12) for an inflatable vehicle occupant restraint module (112) is held in a folded state prior to installation of a cover (118) by two straps (28, 30) each extending from a first end (38, 50) secured adjacent a mouth of the airbag, round one side of the folded airbag, through a slot (140, 142) adjacent the centre of a horn switch unit (14) and back round the same side of the airbag to the mouth where its distal end is restrained by studs (64, 65) extending from a retainer ring (18) and passing through holes (45, 58) in the strap. The strap first ends (38, 50) may be interconnected by a strap collar (26). The switch unit (14) has a frangible central region between the slots (140, 142) comprising at least one of a tear seam in a rigid base plate and a breakable portion of a membrane horn switch.</p> |
