The invention relates to the use of salts of di- alpha sulphodicarboxylic acid di-ester according to the formula (I) in formulations for washing and cleaning textiles, cleaning hard surfaces and cleaning and washing hair and skin. R<1> and R<3> both stand for a hydrocarbon radical with 1-22 carbon atoms. R<2> means a spacer from a chain with 2-100 carbon atoms which contain oxygen, nitrogen and/or phosphorus atoms and can have functional side groups. A and B stand for oxygen, alkoxylene groups or derivatized nitrogen.
