Individual user access method especially for video signal transmission in VOD

The method involves converting a transmitted video broadcast into a digital data stream, determining the start of a broadcast from actual broadcast data, and storing the data associated with a broadcast in a storage medium. The actual program data of a video broadcast are stored in a program table (PT), and are converted into a user menu (BM). The broadcast data stored on the storage medium is accessed by use of the user menu. A comparator preferably compares the actual VPS data supplied by a VPS decoder with VPS data extracted from video-text data and stores the updated video-text data in the program table. The end times of programs are pref. also determined and stored on the storage medium. Preferably the addresses of the stored broadcast data in the storage medium are stored as pointers in the program table.
