PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compounds useful as an intermediate of medicines, agricultural chemicals, etc., in a short time and in a high yield using economical raw materials by using a specified ratio of raw materials in a polar solvent in a reaction between an aromatic chlorinated compound and an olefin in the presence of a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic chlorinated compound of formula I (R is Cl, formyl, alkyl, alkoxy, nitro, cyano, alkylcarbonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, aryl, etc.; (n) is 0-5) and an olefin of formula II (R<1>-R<3> are H, alkyl, cyano, aryl, arylcarbonyloxy, etc.) are used as the raw materials and the compound of formula I is used in excess of the compound of formula II. The reaction is carried out in the presence of a palladium compound or a phosphine compound as a catalyst in a polar solvent (e.g. hexamethylphosphoric triamide or N- methylpyrrolidone) at 100-300 deg.C preferably using the solvent in a remarkably excess amount, thus obtaining the objective compound of formula III. |
