Process and apparatus to prepare sample for gas chromatography

In a process and assembly to prepare a sample for gas chromatography, the sample is transported in a solvent through a liquid chromatography assembly (1) in which it is exposed to a detector (2). When a sample of interest is detected and reported by a signal, the sample is tapped from the current flow and subjected to gas chromatography. The novelty is that: (a) the flow of the sample leaving the liquid chromatography (1) unit is into a through-flow cuvette (4) from which it is abstracted by a syringe (18); (b) the sample is only released to the cuvette for as long as it contains the relevant content; (c) the sample is drawn from the cuvette in a predetermined ratio to the liquid flow speed, when the sample of interest has reached the cuvette (4).
