Additionally to the gas spring (5) a mechanical spring (6) acts on the flap. The mechanical spring engages on one side of the flap and a gas spring on the other side. The mechanical spring is a pressure spring (7) which is a screw spring enclosing the gas spring. The pressure spring supports on a support discs (8,9) provided on both end areas of the gas spring. On the cylinder (12) of the gas spring a protective casing (13) open to the piston rod side is arranged, which encloses the screw spring with low radial clearance. On the outer end of the piston rod (14) an inner protective casing (15) is provided. The outer and inner protective casings are made of plastics.
