Soldered joint for a metal bracelet link pivot pin (6) set in a blind hole (12) in a bracelet component (4g) is made by applying a quantity of molten solder (16) into a cavity (18) at the bottom of the hole (12) after introducing the rod. The hole has an additional cavity (20) formed between an annular recess (22) in the rod and the side wall of the hole to receive surplus solder from the main cavity. Surplus solder passes from one cavity to the other along milled grooves in the rod's outer surface, and the volume of the second cavity is equivalent to 30 per cent or more of the volume of solder.
