PURPOSE:To secure depth of penetration, and also, to improve productivity. CONSTITUTION:In the beginning of a welding operation, an initial welding feed speed of a very low speed is allowed to ascend continuously, and from a state that a laser light passes through to the reverse side of an object to be welded, its effective laser energy density is lowered gradually (steps S2-S4). When a sensor of the reverse side of the object to be welded detects a fact that the laser light comes not to pass through (step S5), a welding speed at that time is derived as a laser light passing-through limit speed (step S7). Based on the laser light passing-through limit speed, reference welding condition data is referred to, an effective laser energy density characteristic by which penetration can become the depth of penetration being absolutely necessary for the quality even though it does not reach the reverse side of the object to be welded is specified (step S8), and from its characteristic, a value of a general part welding speed is calculated, and outputted as a speed command at the time of subsequent welding operation. |
